PvP Minion Demon Hunter Guide

Minion Demon Hunters should use the Explosive Arrow primary attack along with Strafe, Vengeance, Escape, and Spinning Chakram for crowd control. With the recommended build Strafe summons shadow turrets, Vengeance summons a shadow minion, and Escape makes you invisible. Spinning Chakram should be used because it can carry multiple opponents a short distance and then stun and slow them. This allows you to escape in fights while your minions are still dealing damage to your opponents. You should summon minions from a safe distance and you should also cast minions nearby objectives in Battlegrounds and Tower Wars to help out your team and then simply go invisible with Escape. The PvP Minion Demon Hunter build is a solid PvP build that's fun and it does especially well in PvP when the build is played defensively.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: PvP Minion Demon Hunter Build

1. Slinger is the best damage paragon for this build because it increases your damage and critical hit chance with range.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and has increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The recommended legendary skill is Lightning Rod which deals damage after 10 attacks on an enemy within 3 seconds.

PvP Minion Demon Hunter Skills and Equipment:

Skills

Main Hand

Unrelenting Furor - Greatly increases the duration of the Strafe skill which includes minions from Strafe.

Off-Hand

Fallow Farm - Strafe now summons a shadow that shoots in all directions.

Main Hand 2

Turmoil - Strafe and its minions now also fire homing rockets at a nearby enemy.

Off-Hand 2

Electrum Luna - Spinning Chakram now throws a windwheel blade that drags enemies with it and then pulls enemies in.

Note: The pull in from Electrum Luna is a great crowd control skill that keeps opponents near your stationary minions.

Helmet

Abundant Intangibles - Escape now makes you invisible for a semi-short duration on a short cooldown.

Shoulders

Hunter-Gatherer - Escape now also launches three homing rockets at nearby enemies.

Chest

Yearling Kiln - Vengeance now summons a minion to attack nearby enemies.

Legs

Coff's Unrelenting Fury - Vengeance now causes every two primary attacks to fire a rocket at a nearby enemy.

Recommended Sets

1. Shepherd's Call To Wolves (6 Set) - Increases your damage with minions and your critical hit chance per minion.

2. Untouchable Mountebank (2 Set) - Great for PvP for a 20% chance to gain an absorb shield when you take damage.

Note: The Grace of the Flagellant and Restitution in Blood sets don't work when your minions deal the damage.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Seeping Bile - Deals damage over time and slows enemies' movement speed (also triggers the Pain Clasp two star).

3. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

4. Stormvault - Useful at rank 5+ to create a storm that damages enemies and slows their movement speed at rank 5+.

5. Blood Floe - Increases your damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes enemies to bleed.

6. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

7. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase the damage bonus.

Note: One gem slot should be reserved for the one star Freedom and Devotion gem to increase your minions' durations.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Bloody Reach - Increases your damage based on the distance to your summon and then the distance to the enemy.

2. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

3. Viper's Bite - Deals damage over time and can kill opponents after cheat deaths (also triggers the Pain Clasp gem).

4. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a blood spike that causes enemies to bleed.

5. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

6. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase each time they're hit with your attacks.

7. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

8. Abiding Curse - Greatly lowers enemies' attack speed and movement speed and gives a damage increase.

Note: Fervent Fang and Specter Glass should be replaced first if you're upgrading to higher resonance five star gems.

Best Starter 1 Star Legendary Gems

1. Freedom and Devotion - Highly recommended to increase the duration of your minions and increase their damage.

2. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

3. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

4. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical hits and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Freedom and Devotion is highly recommended to increase your minions' durations even at higher resonance levels.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Can have Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong in PvP because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for 3 seconds. They're also capable of having 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Relentless Strikes is the next best skill because it gives a chance to cast the Duskprowler shield twice. Innervate gives a chance at resetting one of the player's skill cooldowns, Steel Hide gives a chance to block, Precision gives critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and prioritize Topazes for resistances which lowers harmful effects durations on you in yellow sockets. You can also combine all of your bound Citrines which give potency and Rubies which give life and socket them into your gear if they have higher refinement. You should use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The fairly new Fated Trail five star gem is a strong legendary gem once you have high increased maximum life from Vitality and resonance. The new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than Fated Trail especially at high ranks. Legendary gems that provide increased skill damage like Colossus Engine, Power & Command, and Entropic Well don't increase the damage of summons so they shouldn't be used. The Blood Floe legendary gem is strong when it's combined with multiple sources of critical hit chance and critical hit damage. The Viper's Bite and Seeping Bile gems can be used to trigger the damage increase on the Pain Clasp two star gem from there being continuous damage on the enemy. When using increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should try to roll increased critical hit damage on every piece of equipment using Reforge Stones for more damage. The Seeping Bile and Stormvault legendary gems can be used for PvP to deal damage and slow opponents near your minions. The Frozen Heart five star gem is also important in PvP to chill opponents which slows their attack and movement speed and it gives an absorb shield.
