Vengeance & Rain of Vengeance Demon Hunter Guide
The Vengeance & Rain of Vengeance Demon Hunter utilizes the Crossbow Shot primary attack with Vengeance, Spinning Chakram, Rain of Vengeance, and Strafe. Vengeance is used to transform you into an avatar of Vengeance which gives new active skills and Rain of Vengeance triggers automatically when you use your skills. Spinning Chakram is used to deal damage while moving with the recommended essence in PvM and it's also used in PvP with a different essence for crowd control to deal damage, knockback enemies, and stun enemies. Strafe is used with the Fallow Farm weapon essence to summon two shadow minion turrets that deal high damage to nearby enemies. The Vengeance & Rain of Vengeance Demon Hunter is currently a new top tier PvP build and it's also excellent at the Conqueror event and Tower Wars.​

Paragons & Legendary Skills: Vengeance/Rain of Vengeance Demon Hunter

1. Slinger is the best damage paragon for this build because it increases your damage and critical hit chance with range.
2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.
3. Vanquisher is the best paragon for increased magic find and has increased damage and attack speed on kills.
4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and moving unhindered through enemies.
5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.
6. The best legendary skills are Lightning Rod for more damage in PvM and Death's Release for DoT explosions in PvP.

Quickthorn - Rain of Vengeance now also greatly increases your movement speed for a duration.
Note: This increased movement speed essence makes this Demon Hunter build an excellent speed farming build.

Supply Everlasting (PvM) - Spinning Chakram now damages enemies as you move around for a duration.
Electrum Luna (PvP) - Spinning Chakram now throws a large windwheel to damage enemies, drag them, and stun them.

Recommended Sets
1. Restitution in Blood (4 Set) - Increases damage and deals damage which is increased when enemies have less life.
2. Vithu's Urges (2-4 Set) - Increases your beneficial effects duration by 30% and increases your attack speed.​
3. Untouchable Mountebank (PvP 2 Set) - Gives a medium chance each time you're damaged to give an absorb shield.
Note: Look for blue sockets on both of your rings so that you can socket them with Sapphires which give Armor Penetration.

Skill Enchants
1. Vengeance skill enchants deal additional damage every three times Vengeance deals damage to a target.
2. Strafe skill enchants should also be used to give a 15% chance for Strafe to fire an additional bolt.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems
1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies for a duration.
2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.
3. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.
4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, tmeporary knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.
5. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.
6. Blood Floe - A solid five star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.'​
7. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase the damage bonus.
8. Void Spark (PvM) - A powerful AoE five star gem that releases chain lightning and increases your attack speed.
9. Seeping Bile (PvP) - This gem increases your damage and movement speed after using a buff skill.
Note: Seeping Bile is used with the Death's Release legendary skill in PvP to finish off opponents after cheat deaths.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems
1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.
2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a damaging spike that causes enemies to bleed.
3. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase and increases your damage against bosses and elites.
4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.
​5. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and it deals damage but it's drop disabled.
6. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy PvP gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.
7. Igneous Scorn - Deals damage on critical hits and increases your damage after critical hits. Igneous Scorn is one of the lowest priority two star legendary gem and it should eventually be replaced with a five star legendary gem.
8. Viper's Bite - A nice gem for early on that deals high damage over time if you have low resonance legendary gems.
Note: Pain Clasp is the top two star gem for PvM and Crimson Behelit is the top two star gem for PvP.

Best Starter 1 Star Legendary Gems
1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.
2. Entropic Well - An excellent one star gem for skill damage that can be replaced at higher levels with a strong 5 star gem.
3. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.
4. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star legendary gem that has a skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.
5. Interminus Stone - A budget gem that increases damage while moving and it gives low evasion rating.
6. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.
7. Respite Stone (PvP) - A strong PvP one star gem that reduces your damage taken and increases your block chance.
Note: The Berserker's Eye gem can be used early on in PvP because it increases damage more than most five star gems.

Best Familiars
1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the Duskprowler lowers the cooldown of Savior. The Tenacity passive is great to lower the Duskprowler's shield cooldown. The Lingering Wounds passive can be used for increased damage but it only works on a Duskprowler if you also have the Ignition passive which burns enemies over time.
2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for more damage.
3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.
4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and strong passive skills as an alternative.
5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it provides healing when you drop below 50% life. Innervate can reset one of the player's cooldowns, Phalanx increases your damage and defenses, Precision gives critical hit chance to the familiar, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also all desirable.
Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems
Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and use a combination of your highest refinement Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies which improves your damage for PvM and resistances decrease harmful effects durations on you which is important in PvP. You should use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets with armor penetration taking priority. You can optionally combine all of your Rubies which give an increase to your maximum life into one or two Rubies and socket them into your equipment if they give higher refinement. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes
The Blood-Soaked Jade and Hellbound Desire five star gems are important for this build for increased movement speed. The Fated Trail five star gem is a strong legendary gem once you have high maximum life from Vitality, Rubies, and resonance. The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than Fated Trail but it doesn't have the added PvP benefit of an immobilize effect. The Colossus Engine five star gem is great for increased skill damage, increased area of effect, increased movement speed (from its size increase), and temporary knockback immunity. The Blood Floe gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. When using legendary gems that increase your critical hit chance you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your gear. The Frozen Heart five star gem can optionally be used in PvP in the place of Seeping Bile to improve your defenses. ​
