PvP Dash Breaker Shield Tempest Guide

The PvP Dash Breaker Shield Tempest uses the Wind Edge primary attack with Squall, Breaker, Crosswinds, and Rolling Surf. Crosswinds and Breaker are used as dash attacks and are your primary damage skills. Squall should be used to buff your dash attacks with the A Thousand Dooms main hand essence and Rolling Surf increases your movement speed and empowers your primary attacks to slash with swords. Breaker has four charges, makes you untargetable, gives an absorb shield, and makes you immune to one loss of control effect. You should start off fights with Rolling Surf for more damage and increased movement speed, empower your dashes with Squall, and then use all six charges of your dash attacks. You should then evade with your very fast movement speed and go back in and burst with dash attacks again. You can spend your dash attacks quickly and be hard to hit, flee, and then return to finish off your opponent. This PvP build deals more damage than PvP Flowing Strike Tempests but Flowing Strike can stun opponents, it can have larger absorb shields with skill enchants, and Flowing Strike has better defenses against losses of control but both of these PvP builds work well.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: PvP Dash Breaker Shield Tempest Build

1. Harbinger is the best damage paragon for this build because it decreases your dash cooldowns and increases damage.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and gives increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The best legendary skill for PvM is Lightning Rod for damage and the best legendary skill for PvP is Death's Release.

Main Hand

Xsaadh Dhuth - Rolling Surf now empowers your and your Zephyrs' primary attacks to slash with swords while giving temporary immunity to total loss of control and knockback.

Note: The Xsaadh Dhuth essence retained the Rolling Surf skill's increased movement speed. The Skein-Parter essence was removed because it was nerfed which made it much more difficult to maintain its increased movement speed.

Off-Hand

Coral Shank - Crosswinds now dashes firing wind blades and the number of blades increases by your movement speed.

Note: The Crosswinds skill with Coral Shank is one of your main dash skills that's used in your burst.

Main Hand 2

A Thousand Dooms - Squall now empowers your dashes, shatters enemies' armor, and increases the damage they take.

Note: This essence changes Squall to empower your dash attacks which is very important for this build.

Off-Hand 2

Maarozhi Spine - Zephyrs now also deal increased damage.

Helmet

Look Leeward - Squall now also marks enemies causing them to take a percentage of damage done while marked.

Chest

Merchant's Scales - Rolling Surf now also conjures one additional Zephyr.

Note: It's important to have increased beneficial effects duration on your chest armor, boots, and belt for more skill uptime.

Shoulders

Mandate of Ksathra - Breaker now also gives an absorb shield and makes you immune to one loss of control effect.

Legs

Mistwalkers - Breaker now makes you untargetable during its dash, conjures a Zephyr, and has four charges.

Recommended Attribute Priority (PvM/PvP)

1. Fortitude (Armor/Armor Penetration)

Recommended Sets

1. Vithu's Urges (2 Set) - Increases the duration of your beneficial effects by 30% and gives an attack speed increase.

2. Gloomguide's Prize (4 Set) - Increases your damage and critical hit chance for three seconds after using a dash skill.

3. Houlga's Hunger (2 Set) - Deals low self damage and increases your critical hit chance when you receive damage.

Note: It's important to have reduced skill cooldown on your amulet and rings on a Tempest for more skill uptime.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage and movement speed which gives more Crosswinds projectiles.

2. Roiling Consequence - Great gem that increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

3. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase its damage bonus.

4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, short knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

5. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

6. Blood Floe - A solid five star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.

7. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

8. Seeping Bile - Deals high damage over time which is great for killing opponents after they've used a cheat death.

Note: The Death's Release legendary skill makes Seeping Bile explode which often kills opponents after their cheat deaths.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Crimson Behelit - Strong PvP legacy gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

2. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

3. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and causes a blood spike that causes an enemy to bleed.

4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Fervent Fang - A solid two star gem that can be used to give enemies a stacking damage taken increase.

6. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and deals its own damage but it no longer drops.

7. Viper's Bite - A strong gem for early on that deals damage over time which can kill opponents after their cheat deaths.

Note: The Pain Clasp is the best two star gem for damage and Crimson Behelit is the best PvP two star gem.

Best 1 Star Starter Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Blessed Pebble - This gem increases your beneficial effects durations and movement speed which is great for Tempest.

3. Entropic Well - A great one star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and increases your attack speed.

4. Everlasting Torment - A budget gem that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

5. Havoc Bearer - A solid two star gem that increases your damage and attack speed after using a dash skill.

6. Faltergrasp - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical hits and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior. The familiar should also have the Guardian passive for a large heal when you drop below 50% life. The Lingering Wounds passive can also be used for more damage but it requires the Ignition passive on Duskprowlers for a familiar status effect to work.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong in PvP because they damage enemies and mark them reducing their damage by 20% for 3 seconds. They're also capable of having 170+ Resilience which reduces the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it provides a heal when you drop below 50% life. Innervate gives a chance at resetting one of the player's cooldowns, Steel Hide gives a chance to block, Precision gives familiars critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are all also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

You should use Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and prioritize Topazes for resistances which lowers harmful effects durations on you in yellow sockets. You can also use your bound Citrines which gives potency and Rubies which give life to create one or two of each gem and use them if they give higher refinement. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. Normal gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The Fated Trail five star gem is a decent legendary gem once you have high increased maximum life from Vitality and resonance. The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than Fated Trail on nearly every build. The Blood Floe five star gem is a strong option when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. The Colossus Engine gem is also excellent because it increases skill damage, gives short knockback immunity, and increases movement speed (from its size increase) which gives more projectiles with the Coral Shank essence. The Frozen Heart gem gives an absorb shield and chills opponents but it's not recommended for PvP because your defenses aren't as important as your burst damage with your dashes on PvP Dash Tempests.
