Fire Tornado & Surging Stone Druid Guide

The fairly new Landslide Primary Attack Druid now beats the Fire Tornado & Surging Stone Druid for single target damage but the Fire Tornado & Surging Stone Druid is still the best Druid build for AoE damage. This Druid build uses the Landslide primary attack along with Fire Tornado, Raven Swarm, Summon Oak Sage (Thorn Armor in PvP), and Surging Stone. With this build, Fire Tornado is used as a burning damage aura, Raven Swarm increases movement speed and summons a raven with primary attacks, Summon Oak Sage deals extra damage to burning enemies (use Thorn Armor in PvP instead), and Surging Stone damage nearby enemies and provides crowd control for enemies with the recommended essences.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: Fire Tornado & Surging Stone Druid Build

1. Slinger is the highest damage paragon because it increases your damage when alternating primary attacks and skills.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and it helps with loss of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic finding and gives increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used for Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The best legendary skill for this build is Lightning Rod which deals damage after ten hits in three seconds on cooldown.

Barbmantle (PvP) - Thorn Armor now shields only you, casts automatically with primary attacks, and damages enemies.

Shoulders

Kiegfran - Raven Swarm now also generates Primal Power for your skills when it hits an enemy on cooldown.

Legs

Occasional Pillar - Surging Stone now also deals increased damage but costs more Primal Power.

1. Grace of the Flagellant (4 Set) - Deals additional damage to enemies after every five times they take damage.

2. Vithu's Urges (2-4 Set) - Increases the duration of your beneficial effects by 30% which includes your Fire Tornado skill.

3. Untouchable Mountebank (2 Set PvP) - Gives a chance to gain an absorb shield when you take damage.

Note: Look for blue sockets on both of your rings for Sapphires or Aquamarines which give Armor Penetration or Armor.

3. Raven Swarm skill enchants make Raven Swarm generate Primal Power.

4. Thorn Armor skill enchants are useful for PvP to heal you for a percentage of your life when you gain an absorb shield.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Excellent five star gem that increases critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

3. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

4. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

5. Blood Floe - A solid legendary gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.

6. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, short knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

7. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase its damage bonus.

8. Void Spark (PvM) - A powerful AoE gem that shoots chain lightning at enemies and increases attack speed on cooldown.

9. Frozen Heart (PvP) - Gives an absorb shield and chills opponents which lowers their attack speed and movement speed.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and fires a blood spike that causes the enemy to bleed.

3. Specter Glass - Increases enemies' damage taken after scoring a critical hit and increases your critical hit chance.

4. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase and increases damage against bosses and elites.

5. Igneous Scorn - Can be combined with critical hit chance legendary gems to deal damage on critical hits.

6. Viper's Bite - A nice gem for early on that deals high damage over time if you have low legendary gems and resonance.

7. Mourneskull - This legacy gem increases your damage and deals its own damage but it's currently drop disabled.

8. Crimson Behelit - A strong legacy gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

Note: The Pain Clasp gem is already triggered by burning continuous damage so Viper's Bite isn't needed to trigger it. The Pain Clasp is the best two star gem for damage and Crimson Behelit is the best PvP two star gem.

Best 1 Star Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken by 5%.

2. Everlasting Torment - A great budget option that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

3. Entropic Well - An excellent budget one star legendary gem with increased skill damage and increased attack speed.

4. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star gem that has a stacking skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.

5. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - A low priority one star legendary gem that increases your primary attack speed.

6. Respite Stone (PvP) - A strong defensive one star gem that reduces damage taken and increases your block chance.

7. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical hits and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: The Berserker's Eye one star gem is very powerful and takes a ranked up 4 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar can lower the cooldown of Savior from 75 seconds to 60 seconds but only Duskprowlers and Ash Sweepers can have 170+ Resilience. The Tenacity passive skill is great to have because it lowers the Duskprowler's shield cooldown. Lingering Wounds which increases your damage can only be used on a Duskprowler if you have the Ignition familiar passive for a chance to burn enemies which counts as a status ailment.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong for PvP because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience which reduces the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as a budget option.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it gives heals when you drop below 50% life. Innervate gives a chance at resetting one of your cooldowns, Phalanx increases your damage and defenses, Precision gives the familiar critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and use a combination of Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets for the highest refinement. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies and resistances decrease harmful effects durations on you. Citrines for potency are preferred if you only care about damage but, resistances come into play more with PvP. You should use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life into one or two high refinement Rubies and socket them in your equipment if they give more refinement. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The Hellbound Desire and Blood-Soaked Jade five star gems are important on this build for increased movement speed. The Fated Trail five star gem is a solid legendary gem once you have high enough Vitality and resonance because its damage scales with your maximum life. The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than Fated Trail but it doesn't have the added PvP benefit of an immobilize effect. The Blood Floe five star gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. When using multiple increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should also consider using Reforge Stones to roll increased critical hit damage on your equipment for more damage. The Frozen Heart gem is also recommended for PvP for a defensive absorb shield.
