PvP Lash of Pain & Burning Ascent Warlock Guide

This build is recommended as the best PvP Warlock because it deals very high damage for a PvP build with Lash of Pain for a wide spread area of effect attack and a recastable 120k life absorb shield with Burning Ascent. You can also use the Untouchable Mountebank four set without sacrificing too much damage. The build uses the Command Fallen primary attack with Lash of Pain, Burning Ascent, Siphon Life, and Infernal Eruption. Lash of Pain gives a large area of effect attack when you use your primary attack that burns opponents and knocks them back, Infernal Eruption knocks opponents into the air which inflicts crowd control and deals AoE damage to opponents, Siphon Life is important for increased damage, increased attack speed, increased movement speed, and a large 30% life heal, and Burning Ascent gives a long ranged dash attack that can dash in and out of danger while granting a 120k life absorb shield and immunity to total loss of control.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: PvP Lash of Pain Warlock Build

1. Slayer is the best damage paragon for this build because it increases your primary attacks attack speed and damage.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and it helps with losses of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and gives increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The best legendary skill is Overloaded for damage and Curse of Weakness for PvP which lowers opponents' damage.

PvP Lash of Pain Warlock Skills and Equipment:

Main Hand

Clawing End - Siphon Life gives a large heal and increased attack speed and damage after taking damage five times.

Note: The Clawing End essence allows you to have 35% increased movement speed when also using the Giltjagg essence.

Off-Hand

Dirty Tactics - When Fallen Lunatics explode can heal and increase the attack speed of your Soulgorger minion.

Note: This slot has no other beneficial skills but the awakened effect on this essence is more Command Fallen damage.

Main Hand 2

Harsh Discipline - Burning Ascent now dashes dealing damage while you are untargetable breaking free of total loss of control and silence effects while also granting a huge absorb shield.

Off-Hand 2

Jawless Grin - Infernal Eruption now also deals increased damage against burning enemies.

Helmet

Giltjagg - Siphon Life now also increases your movement speed by 35% for as long as it's active.

Chest

Watch Them Writhe - Infernal Eruption now crashes down damaging enemies, knocking them up, and burning them.

Shoulders

Brutal Lessons - Lash of Pain now empowers your primary attack to burn enemies and knock them back.

Legs

Rivenrile - Lash of Pain now also shatters enemies armor increasing the damage that they take stacking up to three times.

Recommended Sets

1. Untouchable Mountebank (4 Set) - Gives a chance to gain an absorb shield when you're damaged.

2. Vithu's Urges (4 Set) - Increases the duration of your beneficial effects and increases your attack speed after buff skills.

Skill Enchants

1. The Burning Ascent skill enchants removes slows and makes you immune to total loss of control for one second.

2. One Lash of Pain skill enchant is helpful because it immobilizes enemies and prevents their dash skills for one second.

3. Siphon Life skill enchants should be used to give a damaging aura around you and it slows opponents.

4. Infernal Eruption skill enchants makes Infernal Eruption deal increased damage for each burning enemy.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes your critical hits to burn your enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

3. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

4. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase its damage bonus.

5. Wulfheort - Slashes enemies when they take damage and increases you, your allies', and your minions' attack speed.

6. Blood Floe - Increases your critical hit chance, critical hit damage, damage, and causes enemies to bleed.

7. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, increased movement speed (from its size increase), and temporary knockback immunity.

8. Frozen Heart - Gives an absorb shield that chills enemies which lowers their attack speed and movement speed.

Note: The Wulfheort five star gem is powerful in PvM because it also increases the attack speed of your minions.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and casts a blood spike that causes enemies to bleed.

3. Fervent Fang - Gives a stacking damage taken increase when enemies are hit and increases boss and elite damage.

4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Viper's Bite - This damage over time gem is powerful early on and it can kill opponents after their cheat death.

6. Power & Command - Alternates between increased skill damage and increased primary damage and it dispels you.

7. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and deal damage but it's drop disabled.

8. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy PvP gem that gives increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

Note: Pain Clasp is the best PvM two star gem for damage and Crimson Behelit is the best PvP two star gem.

Best 1 Star Starter Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and your critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Everlasting Torment - A strong budget gem that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

3. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - This gem is a great starter one star legendary gem that increases your primary attack speed.

4. Entropic Well - A one star gem that increases your skill damage and attack speed but not your primary attack damage.

5. Respite Stone (PvP) - This PvP legendary gem reduces damage taken and increases your block chance below 50% life.

6. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical hits and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience Duskprowler with the Savior passive which gives a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior but only Duskprowlers and Ash Sweepers can have 170+ Resilience. The Tenacity passive is great for lowering the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield, the Guardian passive is great for healing, and Steel Hide is strong on tank builds for increased block chance.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong for PvP because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience which reduces the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it heals you when you drop below 50% life. Innervate can reset one of the player's cooldowns, Phalanx increases your damage and defenses, Precision gives critical hit chance to your familiar, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are all also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and use a combination of Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets for the highest refinement. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies and resistances decrease harmful effects durations on you. Citrines for potency is preferred if you only care about PvM damage but resistances come into play more with PvP matches. You should use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires for increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your Rubies which give life into one or two Rubies and socket them into your equipment if they give more refinement. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the normal gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than the Fated Trail five star gem on nearly every build. The Wulfheort five star gem is excellent for this build because it slashes enemies when they're damaged and increases you, your allies, and your minions' attack speed which includes your Soulgorger minions' damage. The Blood Floe five star gem is a great gem when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. When using multiple increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your equipment with Reforge Stones for more damage. The Frozen Heart five star gem should be used for PvP for an absorb shield for survival on this build and it also chills opponents which lowers their attack speed and movement speed.
