PvP Arcane Wind Primary Wizard Guide

The PvP Arcane Wind Primary Wizard is now the meta PvP Wizard in battlegrounds. This build uses the Magic Missile primary attack with Arcane Wind, Slow Time, Lightning Nova, and Ice Armor. Arcane Wind fires tornados that knock enemies back with your primary attacks and Lightning Nova fires lightning with your primary attacks. The Alder Crystal essence is used to make Arcane Wind freeze chilled enemies and Ice Armor reduces your damage taken, gives absorb shields, and chills enemies for the Alder Crystal freeze. The Ephemeral Visage essence makes Slow Time increase your attack speed and movement speed which also increases your Arcane Wind damage with the Fleeting Agitator essence.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: PvP Arcane Wind Primary Wizard Build

1. Slinger is the best paragon tree for damage because it increases your critical hit chance and movement speed.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and it helps with loss of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and has increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for a shield, increased movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The best legendary skill is Overloaded because it increases your primary attack speed and this is a primary attack build.

Main Hand

Skyhold Crosier - Arcane Wind now increases your movement speed and makes your primary attack fire tornados dealing wind damage and knocking back enemies. You also gain brief immunity to loss of control and knockback effects.

Note: Holding down your primary attack button (space on keyboard) automatically fires your primary attack while you move.

Off-Hand

Cycle Stone - Ice Armor now reduces damage taken, gives absorb shields when you're damaged, and chills enemies.

Main Hand 2

O'l Rustic - Lightning Nova now also increases your primary attack speed.

Off-Hand 2

Alder Crystal - Arcane Wind now also freezes chilled enemies on cooldown.

Helmet

Ephemeral Visage - Slow Time now increases your attack speed and movement speed and makes continual damage and ground effects deal damage faster.

Winterthorn Shawl - Ice Armor now also increases your critical hit chance each time you're attacked stacking up to 4 times.

Rampant and Inscrutable - Lightning Nova now fires lightning with your primary attacks.

Fleeting Agitator - Arcane Wind now also gains increased damage with increases to your movement speed.

1. Vithu's Urges (4 Set) - Increases the duration of your beneficial effects by 30% and increases your attack speed.

2. Restitution in Blood (2-4 Set) - Gives 35% increased damage for a duration to four or less enemies on cooldown.

3. Feasting Baron's Pack (PvP 2 Set) - Extends the duration of your harmful effects by 30% which includes freezes.

Note: Look for blue sockets on both of your rings so that you can socket them with Sapphires which give Armor Penetration.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

2. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

3. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, temporary knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

4. Roiling Consequence - Greatly increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

5. Gloom Cask - Fires gloom blades with your primary attacks on cooldown and increases your primary attack damage.

6. Blood Floe - A solid five star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.

7. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase its damage bonus.

8. Fated Trail - Deals damage based on your maximum life, increases enemies' damage taken, and immobilizes enemies.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a damaging spike that causes an enemy to bleed.

3. Specter Glass - Increases enemies' damage taken after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

4. Fervent Fang - Gives a stacking damage increase and increases your damage against elites and bosses.

5. Power & Command - Alternates between increased skill damage and increased primary damage and sometimes dispels.

6. Viper's Bite - This damage over time gem is strong early on and it deals great damage at low resonance levels.

7. Igneous Scorn - Deals damage on critical hits and increases your damage after critical hits. Igneous Scorn is the lowest priority two star gem and should be the first two star gem to be replaced with a five star gem.

8. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

Note: Pain Clasp is the best two star gem for PvM damage and Crimson Behelit is the best two star gem for PvP.

Best Starter 1 Star Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - Great one star legendary gem for this build that increases your primary attack speed.

3. Entropic Well - This one star gem increases your skill damage and increases your attack speed.

4. Everlasting Torment - A great one star gem that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases attack speed.

5. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star legendary gem that has a skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.

6. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical hits and greatly reduces their movement speed.

7. Respite Stone (PvP) - This PvP legendary gem reduces damage taken and increases block chance below 50% life.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a great one star legendary gem that requires a ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar can lower the cooldown of Savior from 75 seconds to 60 seconds but only Duskprowlers and Ash Sweepers can have 170+ Resilience. The Tenacity passive is great to have to lower the familiars skill cooldown. Lingering Wounds which increases your damage can only be used on a Duskprowler if you also have the Ignition familiar passive for a chance to burn enemies which counts as a status ailment.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong for PvP because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience which reduces the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as a budget option.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it provides heals when you drop below 50% life. Innervate gives a chance to reset one of the player's cooldowns, Steel Hide gives a chance to block, Precision gives familiars critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler absorb shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and you should use Citrines and Topazes in yellow sockets which give potency and resistances. Potency increases the duration of your harmful effects including freeze and resistances lower the duration of harmful effects on you. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can also optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life and socket them into your equipment if they give higher refinement. Normal gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement is used to increase the attributes on the pieces of equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The Hellbound Desire and Blood-Soaked Jade five star gems are important for increased movement speed which increases your Arcane Wind damage with the Fleeting Agitator essence. The Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than the Fated Trail five star gem but it doesn't have the added PvP utility of an immobilize effect. The Blood Floe five star gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of critical hit chance and critical hit damage. The Colossus Engine five star gem should be used for increased skill damage, area of effect, movement speed (from its size increase), and temporary knockback immunity. When using multiple increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your equipment with Reforge Stones for more damage.
