PvP Scorch Wizard Guide
PvP Scorch Wizards use the Magic Missile primary attack with Scorch, Lightning Nova, Arcane Wind, and Teleport. You should use the Vaetia's Resourceful Countenance helmet essence for the best crowd control version of Scorch which shocks opponents, slows them, and damages them when they're inside its area of effect. Arcane Wind should also be used with the Thistle Bloom main hand essence to create a damaging storm that provides crowd control. The Coat of the Astrum essence should also be used to deal damage to enemies that are shocked by your Scorch. This build is recommended as the best PvP Wizard, not for kills, but because it wins PvP matches with its strong crowd control abilities.​

Paragons & Legendary Skills: PvP Scorch/Arcane Wind Wizard Build

1. Slinger is the best paragon tree for damage and has increased damage and critical hit chance based on your range.
2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.
3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and has increased damage and attack speed on kills.
4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.
5. Survivor is recommended in Vanguard when you have a low charm because it has a cheat death that works in Vanguard.
6. The recommended legendary skill is Death's Release because it makes your continual damage explode once it expires.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems
1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.
2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.
3. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.
4. Maw of the Deep - Useful at a decent rank to deal damage, gain a damage buff, draw in enemies, and stun enemies.
5. ​Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase the damage bonus.
6. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.
7. Seeping Bile - Poison enemies on hit, slows enemies' movement speed, and can kill opponents after cheat deaths.
8. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.
9. Stormvault (Optional) - Creates a storm that pursues opponents and slows them once the gem is at rank 5 or above.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems
1. Cold Confidant - Creates a damaging ice pillar on cooldown that takes enemies' damage, chills them, and slows them.
2. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.
3. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a blood spike that causes enemies to bleed.
4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.
5. Fervent Fang - Gives a stacking damage increase and increases your damage against elites and bosses.
6. Viper's Bite - This damage over time gem is strong early on and it can kill opponents after their cheat deaths.
7. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.
8. Abiding Curse - Greatly lowers enemies' attack speed and movement speed and gives a damage increase against them.
Note: Cold Confidant, Pain Clasp, and Crimson Behelit are the best two star gems for crowd control Wizards in PvP.

Best Starter 1 Star Legendary Gems
1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.
2. Entropic Well - A strong budget 1 star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and attack speed.
​3. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on crits which triggers the damage increase on the Pain Clasp gem.
4. Faltergrasp - Disables opponents dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces the opponents movement speed.
5. Respite Stone - This defensive one star gem reduces damage taken and increases your block chance below 50% life.
Note: You should eventually replace Everlasting Torment with a 5 star Seeping Bile which also triggers the Pain Clasp gem.

Best Familiars
1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior. The Tenacity passive is great for a lower Duskprowler's shield cooldown. Lingering Wounds increases your damage but it can only be used on a Duskprowler if you also have the Ignition passive for a chance to burn enemies over time.
2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Can have Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.
3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong in PvP because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They're also capable of having 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.
4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.
5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it provides a heal when you drop below 50% life. Innervate can reset one of the player's cooldowns, Steel Hide occasionally gives a chance to block, Precision gives critical hit chance to the familiar, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are all also desirable.
Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems
Prioritize Tourmalines for added DoT damage in red sockets and Citrines for potency which increases harmful effects durations in yellow sockets. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life and Topazes which give resistances and socket them into your equipment if they give higher refinement. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement is used to increase the attributes on the pieces of equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes
The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem is great for damage and the Fated Trail gem is great for crowd control. The Colossus Engine five star legendary gem is important because it gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, temporary knockback immunity, and increased movement speed (from its size increase). The Blood Floe five star gem scales well with increased critical hit chance and increased critical hit damage. The Seeping Bile five star gem poisons opponents which helps finish them off after cheat deaths and it slows opponents inside your crowd control skills like Scorch and Arcane Wind. The Stormvault five star gem can optionally be used in PvP once it's rank 5 or higher to slow opponents and it deals high damage over time. When using legendary gems that give increased critical hit chance you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your equipment using Reforge Stones for more damage.​
