Main Hand

Rotted Harvest - Summons a Devouring Golem with a large area of effect slow aura that consumes corpses to increase its damage, life, and size (which also increases its movement speed).

Departed Appetite - Corpse Lance now consumes corpses to create a vortex of bone around you.

Stroke of Midnight - Wraith Form now also has its cooldown reduced whenever you take damage.​

Black Wall (PvM) - Summons up to six Skeletal Mages that channel beams on nearby enemies.

Scattered Light (PvP) - Summons untargetable mages that can sacrifice themselves to remove a total loss of control.

Note: This build is a PvM build and is not recommended for PvP but PvP options are still included in the guide.

Decrepit Visage (PvM) - Your golem now also has an aura that prolongs the duration of your Skeletal Mages indefinitely.

Inseverable Two (PvP) - Your golem now also takes a portion of your incoming damage.

Executive Discontent (PvM) - Each Skeletal Mage that you have out now also increases your damage.

Cutthroat Arch (PvP) - Skeletal Mages now also increase your critical strike chance when they damage enemies.

Chest

Gallowsborn - Wraith Form now also generates corpses while you move which can be used to create Corpse Lances.

Legs

Bleak Augury - Wraith Form now gives greatly increased movement speed and high evasion rating.

Recommended Sets

1. Shepherd Call to the Wolves (4-6 Set) - Gives high increased critical hit chance for each minion you have out.

2. Vithu's Urges (2 Set) - Increases your beneficial effects durations by 30% which also includes your Wraith Form skill.

3. Untouchable Mountebank (2 Set PvP) - Gives a chance to gain an absorb shield each time you take damage.​

Recommended Skill Enchants

1. Corpse Lance skill enchants make Corpse Lance increase your movement speed for a short duration.

2. Skeletal Mage skill enchants make your skeletal mages cast a dark shield that gives them large absorb shields.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance for a duration and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.​

3. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, temporary knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.​

5. Blood Floe - This gem increases your damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes enemies to bleed.

6. Leviathan Tomb (PvM) - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase the damage bonus.

7. Haunt Coil (PvP) - Reduces your damage taken when you're in a defensive stance which should be used in PvP.

8. Echoing Shade (PvM) - Summons 1-3 minions that give critical hit chance with the Shepherd's Call to Wolves set.

9. ​Seeping Bile (PvP) - Deals damage over time that is great for killing opponents after they use a cheat death.

10. Void Spark (PvM) - Deals massive AoE damage that's effective for challenge dungeons, terror rifts, and speed farming.

11. ​Frozen Heart (PvP) - Optional legendary gem for PvP that gives an absorb shield and chills opponents.​

Note: The Echoing Shade five star gem is strifed in PvP which means its weakened with a much shorter duration for PvP.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a blood spike that causes enemies to bleed.

3. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases critical hit chance.

4. Mourneskull - A solid legacy gem that increases your damage and deals damage but it's drop disabled.

5. Viper's Bite - A low priority two star legendary gem that deals damage over time and slows enemies attack speed.

6. Fervent Fang - A strong gem that gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase when they are hit by your attacks.

7. Igneous Scorn (PvM) - Deals damage on critical hits and increases your damage after critical hits. Igneous Scorn is the lowest priority two star legendary gem and should be the first to be replaced with a ranked up five star gem.

8. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem that gives increased damage and reduced damage taken but it's legacy.

Note: Viper's Bite isn't needed to trigger Pain Clasp because this build already has Skeletal Mages for continuous damage. Pain Clasp, Crimson Behelit, and Mother's Lament are the top three 2 star gems and should be replaced last.

Best 1 Star Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye (PvM) - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Entropic Well - A solid budget one star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and attack speed.

3. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

4. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star gem that has a stacking skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.

5. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a powerful one star gem that requires a high ranked up five star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the Duskprowler lowers the cooldown of Savior. The familiar should also have the Guardian passive for a heal when you drop below 50% life. The Lingering Wounds passive can be used for more damage but it requires the Ignition passive on Duskprowlers for a familiar status effect to work.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Can have Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it can provide a large heal when you drop below 50% life. Innervate can reset one of the player's cooldowns, Phalanx increases your damage and defenses, Precision gives familiars critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and a combination of your highest refinement Citrines and Topazes in yellow sockets for potency and resistances. You can also combine all of your Rubies which give life for higher refinement and use one or two in red sockets. Refinement is determined by the quality of the gem and is used to increase the attributes of the piece of equipment the gem is socketed in. You should also socket your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets for survival and damage.

Gem Notes

The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem is strong and deals more damage than Fated Trail with nearly every build. The Haunt Coil five star gem is great when you switch stances in PvP because it increases your damage and reduces your damage taken and switching stances gives an absorb shield. The Blood Floe five star gem is great when it's combined with multiple sources of increased critical hit chance and critical hit damage. The Colossus Engine gem is helpful because it gives increased area of effect, skill damage, temporary knockback immunity, and movement speed from its size increase. When using increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your equipment using Reforge Stones for more damage. A Frozen Heart five star legendary gem is also recommended for PvP for its absorb shield and it chills opponents which lowers their attack speed and movement speed.​
