Diablo Immortal: The Old Meta PvP Tempest

PvP Dash Flowing Strike Crosswinds Tempest Guide

The Dash Flowing Strike Tempest was the meta Tempest but it has been mostly replaced by the Vortex Crosswinds Tempest for PvM and the PvP Zephyr Surge Tempest for PvP. It's now used as a strong Tempest PvP build for low resonance players that is great for survival and it also has Flowing Strike skill enchants that give absorb shields. This PvP Tempest build uses the Wind Edge primary attack with Squall, Flowing Strike, Crosswinds, and Rolling Surf. The PvP version of this build makes Squall empower your dash skills to deal more damage, Crosswinds becomes a dash attack that fires wind blades with the number of blades increased by your movement speed, Flowing Strike is used as a dash attack that stuns opponents while also providing absorb shields, and Rolling Surf is important for movement speed, temporary total loss of control immunity, and it makes you and your Zephyrs slash with swords. This build becomes a strong PvP build at low resonance once you have multiple Flowing Strike skill enchants which can each give 30-40k absorb shields.

Main Hand 2

2. Vithu's Urges (2 Set) - Increases the duration of beneficial effects by 30% and gives an attack speed increase.

3. Houlga's Hunger (2 Set) - Deals low self damage and increases your critical hit chance when you receive damage.

Note: It's important to have reduced skill cooldown on your amulet and rings on a Tempest for more skill uptime.

Recommended Attribute Priority (PvP)

1. Fortitude (Armor/Armor Penetration)

2. Strength (Primary/Skill Damage)

3. Vitality (Maximum Life)

4. Willpower (Potency/Resistances)

Recommended Skill Enchants

1. Flowing Strike skill enchants are important for PvP because each Flowing Strike enchant gives a 30-40k absorb shield.

2. Crosswinds skill enchants can be used to summon a wind blade that deals damage around you.

3. Rolling Surf skill enchants can empower your primary attacks to deal extra damage.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Great gem that increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Increases your damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

3. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect for Crosswinds (important), short knockback immunity, and increased size which increases your movement speed for a medium duration on cooldown.

5. Blood Floe - Increases damage, increases critical hit chance, increases critical hit damage, and makes enemies Bleed.

6. Gloom Cask - Deals damage on primary attacks on cooldown and increases the damage of your primary attacks.

7. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase its damage bonus.

8. Seeping Bile - Deals damage over time which is great for killing opponents after they use their cheat deaths.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage when enemies have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and fires a blood spike that makes an enemy bleed.

3. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

4. Fervent Fang - Gives a stacking damage increase when you hit an enemy that stacks up to ten times.

5. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and deals its own damage but it no longer drops.

6. Viper's Bite - A nice gem at lower resonance that deals damage over time which can kill opponents after cheat deaths.

7. Crimson Behelit - Strong PvP legacy gem with increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

Note: Pain Clasp is the best two star gem for damage and Crimson Behelit is the best two star gem for PvP.

Best 1 Star Starter Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Blessed Pebble - Great gem for Tempest that increases your beneficial effects durations and your movement speed.

3. Entropic Well - Strong one star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and increases your attack speed.

4. Everlasting Torment - A strong budget gem that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

5. Havoc Bearer - A lower priority gem that increases your damage and attack speed after using a dash skill.

6. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - A lower priority one star legendary gem that increases your primary attack speed.

7. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a high damage one star gem that requires a ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience Duskprowler with the Savior skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the Duskprowler is used to lower the cooldown of the Savior skill. The familiar should also have the Guardian passive for a large heal when you drop below 50% life. The Lingering Wounds passive can also be used for more damage but it requires the Ignition passive on Duskprowlers for a status effect to work.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to lower the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as a budget option.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it provides a heal when you drop below 50% life. Innervate gives a chance at resetting one of the player's cooldowns, Steel Hide gives a chance to block, Precision gives familiars critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and use a combination of Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets for the highest refinement. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies and resistances decrease harmful effects durations on you. Citrines for potency is preferred if you only care about damage but resistances come into play more often in PvP. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life into one or two Rubies and socket them into your equipment if they give more refinement. Normal gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than Fated Trail with nearly every build but it doesn't have the added PVP benefit of an immobilize effect. The Blood Floe five star gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of critical hit chance and critical hit damage. The Colossus Engine legendary gem is important because it increases the area of effect of Crosswinds, increases skill damage, gives temporary knockback immunity, and gives increased movement speed (from its size increase). When using multiple critical hit chance legendary gems you should consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your gear for more damage. You should also roll increased beneficial effect duration on every available piece of equipment which is very helpful for 100% skill uptime on Tempests.
