Disintegrate Meteor Wizard Guide

Disintegrate Wizards use the Magic Missile primary attack with Disintegrate, Meteor, Scorch, and Lightning Nova in PvM. In PvP they should instead use Disintegrate with Arcane Wind, Ice Crystal, and Teleport. The Inclement Alchemy helmet essence is important for PvM because it gives Scorch Shock which is synergized by the Trifling Piffle offhand essence for extra Lightning Nova casts whenever Lightning Nova hits a Shocked enemies. The Thistle Bloom main hand essence is great for PvP because it makes your Arcane Wind draw enemies into its vortex which provides excellent crowd control. You should also use Ice Crystal in PvP to give Disintegrate majorly increased range which also allows you to attack multiple opponents from a very long distance. Ice Crystal has a chill effect inside your Arcane Wind that can bring opponents to a stand still making them easy to defeat if they don't have a dash skill ready. This build overall is a great Wizard build in PvM when movement isn't important and it's also the best PvP Wizard build for damage and kill counts in matches.

Paragons & Legendary Skills: Disintegrate Meteor Lightning Nova Wizard

1. Slinger is the best paragon tree for damage and has increased damage and critical hit chance based on your range.

2. Gladiator is the best PvP paragon tree for this build because it gives a cheat death and helps with loss of control.

3. Vanquisher is the best paragon tree for increased magic find and has increased damage and attack speed on kills.

4. Harbinger can be used in Erebban for an absorb shield, movement speed, and to move unhindered through enemies.

5. Survivor is the recommended paragon for Vanguard early on because it provides a cheat death that works in Vanguard.

6. The recommended legendary skill is Death's Release because it makes your continual damage explode once it expires.

Disintegrate Wizard Skills and Equipment:

Skills

1. Magic Missile (Primary Attack)

Main Hand

Asymmetric Reality (PvM) - Disintegrate now also drains energy from opponents recovering energy each time it hits.

Thistle Bloom (PvP) - Arcane Wind now creates a wind storm that draws enemies into its vortex.

Note: Thistle Bloom makes Arcane Wind one of the best Wizard crowd control skills in the game.

Off-Hand

Trifling Piffle (PvM) - Lightning Nova releases another Lightning Nova when hitting a Shocked enemy.

Alder Crystal (PvP) - This essence freezes chilled opponents inside your Arcane Wind skill on cooldown.

Note: Ice Crystal chills opponents which triggers the Freeze inside Arcane Wind from the Alder Crystal essence.

Main Hand 2

Hexflood (PvM) - Disintegrate now also has increased critical hit chance based on your distance from the target.

Entropic Edge (PvP) - Disintegrate now also has increased damage based on your distance from the target.

Note: Entropic Edge is recommended for PvP because its awakened effect is Disintegrate consumes energy 10% slower.

Off-Hand 2

Nexus Runt (PvM) - Lightning Nova now increases your attack speed and movement speed for three seconds.

Weathering Eye (PvP) - This essence slows enemies when they're hit by your Arcane Wind storm.

Helmet

Inclement Alchemy (PvM) - Scorch now Burns and Shocks enemies and can bounce between multiple targets.

Pillars of the Schools (PvP) - Ice Crystal now also shatters enemies' armor increasing their damage taken.

Shoulders

Searing Judgment - Disintegrate now also burns enemies and makes you immune to knockback effects while channeling.

Chest

Coat of the Astrum (PvM) - Lightning Nova now unleashes arcs of lightning that automatically target nearby enemies.

Frostreaver's Garments (PvP) - Ice Crystal now has greater damage over time and causes a stacking chill effect.

Legs

Raptor's Tail (PvM) - Disintegrate now also releases chain lightning that hits three targets when it hits a Shocked enemy.

Greaves of the Firmament (PvP) - Disintegrate now also deals additional damage every three hits on an enemy.

Recommended Sets

1. Grace of the Flagellant (4-6 Set) - Deals additional damage every five times you deal damage to an enemy.

2. Vithu's Urges (2 Set) - Increases your beneficial effects duration by 30%.

3. Untouchable Mountebank (PvP 2 Set) - Gives a chance to gain an absorb shield when you take damage.

Note: Look for blue sockets on both of your rings so that you can socket them with Sapphires which give Armor Penetration.

Recommended Attribute Priority (PvM/PvP)

Skill Enchants

1. Meteor skills enchants increase the damage that enemies take which is the best option for single target damage.

2. Disintegrate skill enchants can give multiple extra beams which is great for PvP and AoE damage.

Note: Stacking multiple Disintegrate beams from skill enchants makes Disintegrate Wizards strong for AoE damage.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Increases your critical hit chance on cooldown and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

3. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, short knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

5. Blood Floe - A solid five star gem that increases damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes bleed.

6. Fated Trail - Deals damage as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

7. Leviathan Tomb (PvM) - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase its damage bonus.

8. Maw of the Deep (PvP) - Draws enemies in, damages enemies, stuns enemies, and increases damage against enemies.

9. Void Spark (PvM) - Deals AoE damage that's extremely effective for challenge dungeons, terror rifts, and speed farming.

10. Seeping Bile (PvP) - Damages enemies over time and slows their movement speed inside your Arcane Wind skill.

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and releases a blood spike at an enemy that causes them to bleed.

3. Specter Glass - Increases enemies' damage taken after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

4. Fervent Fang - Gives a stacking damage increase and increases your damage against elites and bosses.

5. Mourneskull - This legacy gem increases your damage and deals its own damage but it's now drop disabled.

6. Viper's Bite - This damage over time gem is strong early on and it deals great damage at low resonance levels.

7. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem that gives increased damage and reduced damage taken but it's drop disabled.

8. Igneous Scorn - Low priority gem that can be combined with high critical hit chance to deal damage on critical hits.

Note: Pain Clasp is triggered by the burn from the Disintegrate skill with the Searing Judgment shoulder essence.

Best 1 Star Starter Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Entropic Well - A great one star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and increases your attack speed.

3. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on critical hits which also triggers the damage increase on Pain Clasp.

4. Trickshot Gem - Lowers your channeling costs which allows you to channel Disintegrate for a longer duration.

5. Surging Sea - A lower priority one star gem that has a stacking skill damage increase that stacks up to 10 times.

6. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a strong one star gem that requires a high ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the Duskprowler lowers the cooldown of Savior. The Tenacity passive is also great to have because it lowers the Duskprowler's shield cooldown. The Lingering Wounds passive can also be used for increased damage but it requires the Ignition passive on Duskprowlers to burn enemies over time to work.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it can provide a heal when you drop below 50% life. Innervate gives a chance to reset one of your cooldowns, Phalanx increases your damage and defenses, Precision gives critical hit chance to familiars, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and use your highest refinement Citrines and Topaz in yellow sockets. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give increased maximum life and socket one or two of them in your equipment if it gives more refinement. Normal gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes of the equipment the normal gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The Blood-Soaked Jade and Hellbound Desire five star gems are important for this build for increased movement speed. The Fated Trail five star legendary gem is a solid gem once you have high maximum life from Vitality and high resonance. The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than Fated Trail but it doesn't have the added PvP utility of an immobilize effect. The Blood Floe five star gem is a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of critical hit chance and critical hit damage. When using increased critical hit chance legendary gems you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your equipment using Reforge Stones for more damage. The Frozen Heart defensive five star legendary gem isn't recommended for PvP because you can easily Teleport away from danger on this build.
