Main Hand

Tenebrous Grasp - Seven-Sided Strike now empowers your primary attacks to deal additional damage to nearby enemies.

Off-Hand

Fist of Aranoch - Flying Dragon now also increases your damage stacking up to five times.

Main Hand 2

Order Without Sin - Causes every third hit of Fist of Thunder to also deal continuous damage.​

Note: This essence also triggers Pain Clasp (the best two star gem for PvM) because it deals continuous damage.

Off-Hand 2

Vedenin's Sting - Flying Dragon now also shatters enemies' armor, increasing their damage taken, stacking up to 3 times.

Helmet

Humbled Horizon - Inner Sanctuary now follows you increasing your and your nearby allies primary attack speed.

​

Chest

Nest of Vipers - Flying Dragon now causes your primary attacks to release damaging waves.

​

Shoulders

Frondwyld (PvM) - Mystic Strike now also increases your critical hit chance for three seconds.

Ascending Raincloud (PvP) - Mystic Strike now also increases your evasion rating by 20% for four seconds.

Note: Mystic Strike has a short cooldown which means both these Mystic Strike essences have a very high uptime.

Legs

Unending Cycle - Mystic Strike now increases primary attack speed and summons a spirit to mimic primary attacks.​

Recommended Sets

1. Grace of the Flagellant (4 Set) - Deals bonus damage each time you deal damage to an enemy five times.

2. Vithu's Urges (2-4 Set) - Increases the duration of your beneficial effects on you and your party members by 30%.

3. Untouchable Mountebank (PvP 2 Set) - Gives a 20% chance to gain an absorb shield when you take damage.​​​​​

Note: Look for blue sockets on both of your rings so that you can socket them with Sapphires which give Armor Penetration.

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Powerful five star gem that increases critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Gloom Cask - Damages enemies in front of you with primary attacks and increases the damage of your primary attacks.

3. Fated Trail - Deals damage over time as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

4. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

5. Blood Floe - Increases your damage, critical hit chance, critical hit damage, and causes enemies to bleed.

6. Hellbound Desire - Increases damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

7. Leviathan Tomb - Increases your damage for a duration and makes critical hits increase its damage bonus.

8. Haunt Coil (Single Target) - Increases damage in offensive stance and decreases damage taken in defensive stance.

8. Void Spark (AoE) - Deals AoE damage that's very effective for challenge dungeons, terror rifts, and speed farming.

9. Frozen Heart (PvP) - Gives an absorb shield and chills opponents which lowers their attack and movement speed.​​

 

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and fires a blood spike that makes an enemy bleed.

3. Fervent Fang - Gives enemies a stacking damage taken increase and increases damage against elites and bosses.

4. Specter Glass - Increases enemies' damage taken after scoring a critical hit and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Viper's Bite - Deals damage over time and triggers the damage increase on the Pain Clasp two star gem.

6. Power & Command - Alternates between increased skill damage and increased primary damage and it dispels you.​

7. Mourneskull - This legacy gem can be used to increase your damage and deal damage but it no longer drops.

8. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy gem for increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

9. Grim Rhythm - A gem that increases attack speed when you hit enemies for three seconds stacking up to ten times.

Note: The Viper's Bite two star gem is optional to trigger the Pain Clasp two star gem. You can also rely on continuous damage from other players, the Blood Floe gem which causes bleed on critical hits, the Roiling Consequence gem which burns enemies on critical hits, and the Mother's Lament gem which hits enemies with a blood spike that causes bleed.

Best 1 Star Starter Legendary Gems

1. Berserker's Eye (PvM) - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.

2. Everlasting Torment - A strong budget gem that deals damage over time on critical hits and increases your attack speed.

3. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - Great one star legendary gem for this build that increases your primary attack speed.

4. Entropic Well - A lower priority gem that increases skill damage and attack speed but not primary attack damage.

5. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a strong one star legendary gem and requires a high ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The 170+ Resilience on the Duskprowler lowers the cooldown of Savior. The Tenacity passive is recommended to lower the Duskprowler shield cooldown. The Lingering Wounds passive can also be used for increased damage but it requires the Ignition passive on Duskprowlers to burn enemies over time to work.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for increased damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they damage nearby enemies and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for 3 seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience which reduces the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as an alternative.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it gives a heal when you drop below 50% life. Innervate gives a chance to reset one of the player's cooldowns, Phalanx increases your damage and defenses, Precision gives familiars critical hit chance, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Tourmalines for added damage in red sockets and a combination of Citrines and Topazes for potency and resistances in yellow sockets for the highest refinement. Potency increases harmful effects durations on enemies and resistances decrease harmful effects durations on you. Citrines for potency is preferred if you only care about PvM damage but resistances come into play more with PvP. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires which give increased armor and armor penetration in blue sockets. You can optionally combine all of your bound Rubies which give life into one or two Rubies and socket them into red sockets if they give more refinement. Gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The Fated Trail five star gem is a solid legendary gem once you have high increased maximum life from Vitality and high resonance. The fairly new Leviathan's Tomb five star gem deals more damage than Fated Trail on almost every build. This is a primary attack build so the Gloom Cask five star gem is strong for damaging nearby enemies when you use your primary attacks and it increases the damage of your primary attacks. The Blood Floe five star gem is also a great option when it's combined with multiple sources of critical hit chance and critical hit damage. When using multiple increased critical hit chance gems you should also consider rolling increased critical hit damage on your equipment for more damage.​
