Main Hand

Armory Clutch - Cleave now empowers your primary attacks to deal damage with increased attack range, damage, and life drain dependent on your life at the time of activation.

Note: Undying Rage with the Exulted Demise essence should be used before Cleave to increase its damage and range.

Off-Hand

Thrashabout - Hammer of the Ancients performs a spinning attack and its damage is increased with your maximum life.

Main Hand 2

Oath Crusher - Hammer of the Ancients now also decreases your damage taken for three seconds.

Off-Hand 2

Bergbreaker - Wrath of the Berserker now retaliates dealing damage to nearby enemies when you take damage.

Note: This essence automatically triggers when you use your primary attack with the Nature's Temper shoulder essence.

Helmet

Krubask's Sneer - During Wrath of the Berserker your critical hit chance is also increased.

Shoulders

Nature's Temper - Wrath of the Berserker also makes your primary attack consume 1% of your life to deal extra damage.

Note: This essence deals low self damage which automatically triggers the retaliation on the Bergbreaker offhand essence.

Chest

Yoke of Legacy - Hammer of the Ancients now also greatly reduces your damage taken for a short duration.

Legs

Exulted Demise - Undying Rage now replaces a large portion of your life with an absorb shield, significantly increases your damage, and gives a passive cheat death with 30% life drain when it's triggered.​

Recommended Sets

1. Vithu's Urges (2 Set) - Increases your beneficial effects durations by 30% which includes Wrath of the Berserker.

2. Untouchable Mountebank (4 Set) - Gives a chance to gain an absorb shield which improves your tanking.

3. Houlga's Hunger (2 Set) - Deals low self damage and increases your critical hit chance when you receive damage.

Note: Blue sockets on rings are preferred for Sapphires and Aquamarines which give armor and armor penetration.

Recommended Skill Enchants

1. One Cleave skill enchant is required to lower Cleave's cooldown which aligns it with the cooldown of Undying Rage.

2. Wrath of the Berserker skill enchants should be used to damage enemies around you every 0.5 seconds for a duration.​​

3. Undying Rage skill enchants are optional to reduce the duration of harmful effects on you by 10%

Best 5 Star Legendary Gems

1. Roiling Consequence - Powerful gem that increases your critical hit chance and causes critical hits to burn enemies.

2. Blood-Soaked Jade - Gives increased damage, reduces damage taken below 50% life, and increases movement speed.

3. Hellbound Desire - Gives increased damage and movement speed with bonus damage for a six second duration.

4. Colossus Engine - Gives increased skill damage, increased area of effect, temporary knockback immunity, and increased size (which increases your movement speed) for a medium duration with a 20 second cooldown.

5. Golden Firmament - Attacks with multiple wind blades on cooldown and increases your evasion rating.

6. Fated Trail - Deals damage as a percentage of your life, shatters enemies' armor, and immobilizes enemies.

7. Haunt Coil - Useful in offensive and defensive stance to increase damage or reduce damage taken for a duration.

8. Frozen Heart - A strong PvP legendary gem that gives an absorb shield for a medium duration and it chills opponents.

Note: Golden Firmament is stronger for PvP tank builds because it deals its own damage which gives more damage.​

Best 2 Star Legendary Gems

1. Pain Clasp - Gives high increased damage against enemies that have a continuous damage effect on them.

2. Crimson Behelit - Strong legacy legendary gem for increased damage and reduced damage taken that's drop disabled.

3. Mother's Lament - Increases your critical hit chance and causes a blood spike that makes the opponent bleed.

4. Specter Glass - Increases the damage taken by enemies after critical hits and increases your critical hit chance.

5. Viper's Bite - This damage over time gem is strong early on because it deals great damage at low resonance levels.

6. Igneous Scorn - Can be combined with Roiling Consequence and Mother's Lament to deal damage on critical hits. Igneous Scorn is the lowest priority 2 star legendary gem and it should be the first gem to be replaced with a 5 star gem.

7. Abiding Curse - Greatly lowers enemies' attack speed and movement speed and gives a damage increase.

8. Battleguard - This two star gem reduces your damage taken against enemies within three yards.

Note: Crimson Behelit and Battleguard are strong defensively which makes them great for PvP tanks. Abiding Curse can also optionally be used but it requires high potency to get a decent debuff duration on your opponents.

Best Starter 1 Star Legendary Gems

​1. Berserker's Eye - Increases all of your damage and critical hit chance but also increases your damage taken.​

2. Everlasting Torment - Deals damage over time on critical strikes and increases your attack speed.

​3. Entropic Well - A strong budget one star legendary gem that increases your skill damage and attack speed.

4. Ca'arsen's Invigoration - A strong primary attack one star gem that increases your primary attack speed.

5. Respite Stone (PvP) - This PvP one star gem reduces damage taken and increases your block chance below 50% life.

6. Faltergrasp (PvP) - Disables opponents' dash skills on critical strikes and greatly reduces their movement speed.

Note: Berserker's Eye is a great one star legendary gem and requires a high ranked up 5 star gem to match its damage.

Best Familiars

1. Savior Duskprowler - Look for a 170+ Resilience legendary Duskprowler with the Savior passive skill which provides a cheat death and temporary damage immunity. The Resilience on the familiar lowers the cooldown of Savior. The Tenacity passive which lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield, the Guardian passive which heals you, and Steel Hide which occasionally increases your block chance are also recommended to improve your damage and defenses in PvP.

2. Broodtalon/Skitterwight - Look for Savior which provides a cheat death and Lingering Wounds for more damage.

3. Ash Sweeper - Ash Sweepers are strong, especially in PvP, because they deal damage and mark an enemy reducing their damage by 20% for three seconds. They can also have 170+ Resilience to reduce the cooldown of Savior.

4. Any Savior Familiar - You can use any familiar with Savior for a cheat death and great passive skills as a budget option.

5. Rare Duskprowler - Guardian is the next best familiar passive because it provides healing when you drop below 50% life. Steel Hide occasionally gives increased block chance, Phalanx increases your damage and defenses, Precision gives critical hit chance to familiars, and Tenacity lowers the cooldown of the Duskprowler shield which are also all desirable.

Note: Broodtalons and Skitterwights have status effects over a duration which increases the duration of Lingering Wounds.

Normal Gems

Prioritize Rubies for maximum life on this build because maximum life increases the damage of the new Hammer of the Ancients skill with the Thrashabout essence. You should prioritize Topazes for resistances in yellow sockets but you can combine your bound Citrines and use one or two Citrines if they give higher refinement. You should also use your highest refinement Aquamarines and Sapphires in blue sockets which give increased armor and armor penetration. Normal gems give refinement based on their quality and refinement increases the attributes on the equipment the gems are socketed in.

Gem Notes

The Haunt Coil five star gem is great on this tank build when you switch stances which gives a large absorb shield, more damage, and damage reduction. The Fated Trail five star gem is a solid gem that scales with life which can be increased with Vitality and resonance. The Golden Firmament five star gem is more powerful on tank builds and it's recommended to improve the damage of the build while also providing some evasion rating. The Frozen Heart five star gem is also great for PvP because it gives an absorb shield and it also chills opponents which lowers their attack speed and movement speed. ​​
